What to do, what to do, what to do.

John 15:18-20
If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you.

We know we're gonna be persecuted for being different, for believeing. We're supposed to just as Jesus was.

Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Bluntly...we're examples.

John 15:17
This is my command: Love each other.

Love each other, got it :)

1 Corinthians 13:13
Three things will last forever - faith, hope and love - the greatest is love.

Love = greatest....last forever! Woooooo!

All those verses I know and love deeply. But with my work place is something I struggle with. Well, I'm not sure how God would want me to be.

I'm at college full time, so I work part time - saturdays and holidays. Saturdays is mostly part-staff which is any age between 16 and 24.

Some of the people in that age gap I get along with extremely well. We can have a laugh while working together which is awesome. Some just look down on me -> expected. And some I just don't plain understand. Some of the 20 year olds have the maturity level of a 14 year old school boy. Making sexist joke, rude comments, trying to trip people up...no doubt they're good with the customers, but I'm just stunned!!

So obviously I get a little teased about my faith and church. But most just ask me questions. I don't get insulted or upset when people take the mic, I'm just a secure person in that area.

So I try and love everyone unconditionally.

But what do I do?

  • Stay at my maturity level and set an example?

  • Decrease my maturity level a tad and make friend so I can be salt and light?

  • Or what?

Answers and opinions plesh :)

Hey, my answer.......Be who you are, the person whom God has so tenderly created. Reducing your maturity will show that you are willing to change because of them, when in your heart, the only person you would ever change for is Jesus. By standing tall and strong you will show that, God also is tall and stong. We are to be mirrors, shining His glory out to all. We can laugh and play, as everyone can, but at the same time we must be setting an example. Let me give you an example. Doug in TKMAX, never swore of even went near the level that some of the workers went to in there. He stuck by his guns, and was polite to them always, no matter what, but he also stood strong in his character. Although he rarely heard it, i always heard them talking about how impressed they were that he didnt swear, and how nice he was, and they even said they wished they could be somewhat like him. Now he never heard much of this, because they didnt say it to his face. But you know what, they even started to change, but only in the last few weeks that he was there. So i think you should go to work tomorrow, with your head held high, for the love of God is in your heart and soul, He is your creator, and He is pleased with you, as you are :) Maybe you see no change, but with trust in God, anything is possible.
We love you lots :)
I love you lots :)
But most of all God loves you more than lots :) Ya awesome, and God is using you and will use you :)

Sorry there is no scriptures.

Hat

Hope you are well, heard last week that you are doing good stuff in one of the weald churches so well done but you are missed!

As for your question. Always without a shadow of a doubt be yourself. Never change to try and fit it, difficult I know when young. Your identity is in Christ and with that be secure in who you are and it will be noticed. God will honour that so stay true to who you are.

Take Care

Andrew
